The Pacific Coast Highway, also known as California State Route 1, is a scenic road that stretches along the California coastline. Starting from the north in Mendocino County, the Pacific Coast Highway winds its way through some of California's most picturesque coastal towns. As you continue south, the road gets more and more scenic, with the stunning cliffs of Big Sur providing some of the most breathtaking views along the entire route. Stop at the Bixby Bridge, a famous landmark that has been featured in countless movies and television shows. Take a moment to walk across the bridge and take in the panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean below.
As you approach the southern end of the Pacific Coast Highway, you'll reach Los Angeles County, where the road winds through Malibu, known for its beautiful beaches and celebrity homes. Take a break from the car and soak up some sun on one of the many beaches, or rent a surfboard and catch some waves.
Finally, the Pacific Coast Highway comes to an end in Orange County, just south of Los Angeles. If you have time, make sure to stop in Newport Beach, where you can take a stroll along the boardwalk or explore the many shops and restaurants.
While the Pacific Coast Highway can be driven in a single day, it's best to take your time and make it a multi-day trip. There are plenty of campgrounds and hotels along the route, so you can stop and explore at your own pace.
